With the 2026/27 Motsepe Foundation Championship in full swing, Highbury will hope to maintain their 100 per cent-win rate heading into Matchday 3, while the newly promoted Hope FC are targeting a return to the winning column.
Highbury, who finished in sixth position last season, noted back-to-back wins in their first two league outings in the current campaign. The Eastern Cape side currently sits at the top of the pile following victories over The Bees and Hope FC respectively.
Now, though, hoping to bag their third win in a row, Highbury will take on Upington City on Saturday as they look to make an impression on away soil.
Hope FC opened their 26/27 Motsepe Foundation Championship account with a 1-0 win over the University of Pretoria last month before slumping to a 1-0 loss against Highbury thereafter.
Led by former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana defender Clayton Daniels, Hope FC will now face NWU away on Saturday afternoon as they prepare to bounce back from defeat.
Last season’s PSL Promotion play-off finalists Cape Town City are yet to win a game this season after recording a 1-1 draw with Leicesterford City on Wednesday afternoon. Their recent draw came on the back of a 2-1 loss against Real Native, the club formerly known as Casric Stars.
The Citizens will now shake hands with Hungry Lions at home on Sunday, with the latter coming off consecutive draws against Gomora FC and Orbit College.
Real Native will take on Midlands Wanderers on Friday afternoon, with the former suffering a 2-1 defeat against Upington City in their latest fixture while Wanderers walked out to a comfortable 2-0 victory against AmaTuks last Saturday.
